In my first post with urologist [Dr. James Kuan](http://www.swedishurology.com/about_us/bios2.php#kuan “”), we learned [what incontinence is and what your treatment options are](http://www.brokenhandle.com/male-incontinence-what-is-it-and-what-are-you “”). In this post, Dr. Kuan wants you to know that you don’t have to live with incontinence: you can live dry. Ask your primary care physician or your urologist about your options.
**Below is the transcript of the video**
**Dawn:** Hi, this is Dawn from Brokenhandle. I bring you the second part of my interview with Dr. James Kuan from Swedish Urology. In this part of the interview, Dr. Kuan hits a great point. You don’t need to live with your incontinence. There are solutions. That is the whole reason why I started Brokenhandle. I wanted you men to be aware that there are solutions out there for E.D. and incontinence. You don’t need to live with them. If your urologist is not offering you what you need, seek a second opinion. You’re in charge of your own health. Enjoy the second part of this interview.
**Dr. Kuan:** I guess the bottom line when it comes to incontinence is that men don’t have to be incontinent. It’s not just a women’s disease. There are treatments for men that can be very straightforward, that may require surgery. But all treatments, when given to the appropriate person, can be very successful.
I think if there are men who are concerned or even have questions about their incontinence, speaking with their primary doctors or speaking with an urologist who’s familiar with these things, who’s open to discussing these things I think is very important. So men who have urologists, already I encourage them to speak with their urologist. Men who don’t have urologist can always be seen by contacting our office and, if they’re elsewhere, contacting an urologist office.
I think it’s important to find out when making that appointment is: is this an urologist who is interested or is experienced in treating male incontinence? Because all of us can but not all of us are interested enough to really walk you through that evaluation process and the treatment process so that we can tailor the right treatment for you that is acceptable to you, that reaches the goal of being dry for you, that is sort of what you’re looking for – meeting your expectations. You need to have interested parties on both sides.
